Bulletin – 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

This next week calls for openness in each of us. The prophet, Isaiah instructs us to, “fear not,” because our God is with us. It would seem that all the good things promised us through the prophet will come, if they come, through us showing no partiality toward the rich or poor, as James teaches, but welcoming all equally. Our brother Jesus, as always, shows us the way—he opened the ears and mouth of a deaf mute—we too are called upon to help others hear and speak their truth.  May we be encouraged and blessed in these tasks.

A special note: We will be returning this Sunday, from our trek to Alaska and across parts of Canada—we are most grateful to Pastor Dick Dahl for pastoring the parish, offering Mass and being a sustaining presence in our absence. We have felt your prayers of support and care and are most appreciative. We have missed you all and look forward to connecting again!

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Again this week, we will be asked to contemplate upon ordinary, but yet very important concepts for our life in Christ. A theme might be, “to listen”, first to the Word of God, as instructed by Deuteronomy, but followed very closely by, “our acting upon” what has been planted in our hearts as taught by James.  Our brother Jesus teaches us to be true to our hearts for that is all that makes us unclean or unworthy, not the keeping or breaking of laws that lack love.   Jesus is basically telling us to, “Listen up” and act upon what we have heard. Blessings on each of you as you listen to and act upon what you have heard in your hearts.

A special note: We will be away for this next Sunday, returning on the following Sunday, September 6th—Pastor Dick Dahl will be with you—thanks so much for the prayers; we have been having a marvelous time! And we are missing you all!

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin -Assumption of Mary

Dear Friends,

This week the All Are One community will meet for liturgy on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. Note that this is a special time. Most are aware that we meet once a month on Saturdays for liturgy and then there is no Sunday Mass that weekend. Due to some scheduling on the Mugby Coffee side, with which we and the Lutheran Campus Center share space, for the summer, we need to schedule our Saturday liturgies at 4:00 P.M. instead of 4:30. In September we will move back to our regular schedule of 4:30 P.M. Masses on the third Saturday of the month.

This week’s liturgy calls us to reflect on the special way that our God worked in Mary of Nazareth’s life and on the special way that she responded with a resounding, “Yes!”—a wonderful message for each of us to ponder this week.

Robert and I are continuing our trek across Alaska and Canada, resting and enjoying all the beauty of nature here. We miss you all!

A special note: Robert and I will be away for the next 3 Mass times—Pastor Dick Dahl will be with you—do pray for our safety—we will miss you all in our absence.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

We Catholics have long called ourselves a Eucharistic people and rightly so because this is what Jesus always taught us to be. Simply put, this means that we are to share ourselves with others—in effect, be the “bread” that feeds not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually.  The readings for the last several weekends, as well as this one, deal with how we often get caught up in our physical needs and desires rather than seeing the bigger picture. We see Elijah in the first reading and the Israelite people in the Gospel today doing this when what is called for in both cases is to move out as Paul teaches in the second reading this week—putting on kindness, compassion and striving to be forgiving of ourselves and others.  Come; celebrate with the All Are One community this week and ponder this path of goodness.

A special note to all: Robert and I will be away for the next 4 Mass times—Pastor Dick Dahl will be with you—do pray for our safety—we will miss you all in our absence.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

This will be the third weekend that I won’t be with you, but I can see by Pastor Dick’s homilies that you are being well-cared for.  We continue this week with the theme of “eating” and that we would be “bread for our world.”  As always, our God, and especially, our brother Jesus asks us to go deeper. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians instructs us, “to give up our old life and self.” Sometimes this is more than we feel we can or even want to do.

I was reading an address that Sr. Nancy Schreck gave to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious last year that said so well what we as Jesus’ followers must be about.  She said we must remember the “dangerous memory of Jesus” and never become, “tamed” as we live out our Christian lives. She went on to say that our church and society need “a mature love” from each of us as we try to respond. I leave these thoughts for you to ponder as Robert and I continue our trek across Alaska having just arrived on Monday as I write this.

A special note to all: Robert and I will be away for the next 5 Mass times—do pray for our safety—we will miss you all in our absence.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy
