Bulletin – 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 10 A.M.

Last Sunday for food collection in February for Winona Volunteer Services

***Winter is Back in Winona ***–stay in and dry and out of the wind!!!

Those of you who are away for the winter–WE MISS YOU! (:

This week’s readings show us a picture of our God who is tender and intimate–a God that, as the psalmist says, “Our souls will want to rest in.”  Isaiah reminds us that we are loved as a baby at her/his mother’s breast.  There is nothing that we need that our God doesn’t want us to have. Our call and challenge is to trust that our God will provide through the concerted efforts of each one of us–God is forever faithful and so must we be!

Come; celebrate with us this week!

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Readings:

  • Isaiah 49: 14-15
  • 1 Corinthians 4: 1-5
  • Matthew 6: 24-35

Bulletin – 7th Weekend in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 4:30 P.M.

The Scriptures this week, both Old and New, remind us  that we “are holy as God is holy,” that we are “temples of God,” as are all of God’s creation. We are challenged to “love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.”  Great words and challenges–come; ponder them with us on Saturday.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Readings:

  • Leviticus 19: 1-2,17-18
  • 1 Corinthians 3: 16-23
  • Matthew 5: 38-48

Bulletin – 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 10 A.M.

Remember the gathering in Windom Park at 4:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 to support all the issues that Washington is against.  This group will meet every Tuesday going forward.

Jesus reminds us this week that he came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it–we might say, to add heart.

Let us hold our country in prayer each day that our leaders will lead with their hearts and their heads.

Come; be with us this week.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Readings:

  • Sirach 15: 15-20
  • 1 Corinthians 2: 6-10
  • Matthew 5: 17-37

Bulletin – 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 10 A.M.

Our collection of groceries for January 2017 for the Winona food shelf was 78# –thank you all for your generosity and thanks to Kathy and Dave Palmquist  for delivering our donation!

February 2 was the feast of St. Blaise, the patron of illnesses and afflictions of the throat–in honor of him, we will have the blessing of throats this Sunday.

We can’t quite get past the theme to “shine our lights” that the Scriptures are giving us each week, now, even though we have moved past Epiphany and into Ordinary Time.  It is probably because the challenge to “shine our lights” in memory of Jesus of Nazareth, our brother, was and is intended to be our life-long mission.

Come friends; let us ponder and pray about this challenge together, this Sunday.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Readings:

  • Isaiah 58: 7-10
  • 1 Corinthians 2: 1-5
  • Matthew 5: 13-16

Bulletin – 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 10 A.M.

Last Sunday to contribute to our January collection of food for Winona Volunteer Services’ Food Shelf–please be generous–thanks!

We, along with those first disciples are being groomed in what being a follower of our brother, Jesus, really means.  We are to see ourselves as part of a big world that is meant to be shared by all.  How does the way that I choose to live affect the lives of others?–a big question to ponder!

Come; ponder with us this week!

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy
