Bulletin – 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 10:00 A.M.

Remember our weekly collection of non-perishable food items for the Winona Volunteer Services’ Food Shelf–this is our last Sunday for this month! 

This week we are led to understand just how merciful our God is. We tend to think of God’s mercy through our human eyes and understand God’s mercy through our own ability to be merciful, with God often falling short.

Come; celebrate and ponder with us a God whose mercy, caring and love for us is always, over-the-top!

“We affirm that as a congregation of people of faith, we are taking seriously the call to provide sanctuary support in the Winona Sanctuary Network. We recognize that our immigrant neighbors are a vital part of our community and local economy and that due to a broken immigration system they have not all been allowed the legal protections that they deserve. To this end we will use our privilege and our resources to stand with our community members that are in fear of deportation. As a sanctuary support community we are able to do this by providing; prayers, security, time, money, advocacy, relationship, and fellowship to the degree that is within our power.”

Remember our collection of non-perishable food items for the Winona Food Shelf

A big thank you to all who brought items for Annunciation House as well as many generous monetary contributions. Srs. Mary Kay and Arnold, who are collecting  these items have already expressed their deep gratitude for our generosity.  

We continue this week the notion of being a “traveler” and what that means as we attempt to follow ever closer in the footsteps of our brother Jesus.

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 10 A.M. 

Outreach Activity–Annunciation House in El Paso, on our southern border–anyone who has been collecting material goods to be sent with Srs. Mary Kay and Arnold, Rochester Franciscans will need to bring it on this Sunday and I will get it to Rochester when I go for retreat this next week.  Our AAO board has also given $500 for this very needy cause. 

We are back once again to Ordinary Time and are challenged as Jesus’ followers to be more than “ordinary” as we respond to our world.

We ponder this week the notion of “who is my neighbor?”

Bulletin – Mary of Magdala Celebration

Dear Friends,

Mass on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 10 A.M.–Mass celebrating our sister, Mary of Magdala–Mass on the Redig Farm–potluck lunch to follow. Hoping to see many of you there! 

Once again this year, as in years past; we take a break from our regular liturgical schedule of Ordinary Time to uplift the person of Mary of Magdala to her true status as priest and prophet and in so doing, proclaim the equality and rightness of female followers of our brother, Jesus. Mary’s actual feast is July 22–we are just doing ours a little early!

This is not about power and control as demonstrated in the hierarchy of the Catholic church, but about the call of our brother Jesus in and through the lives of women to proclaim his message of love from the altars of our churches and into the daily lives of the People of God.

A special note:       At the time of the Creed in our Mass;  we will all have the opportunity to renew our baptismal promises as we pray with and for Liam and Sunny Darst as they are baptized into All Are One Catholic community.

FINAL CALL FOR MARY OF MAGDALA CELEBRATION OF WOMEN ON THE FARM! July 7, 2019–Mass at 10 A.M.–Potluck lunch to follow–please let me know if you can join us and what you would like to share–thanks!

We are back to Ordinary Time once again with the challenge that Ordinary Time always seems to bring: “Let us be Jesus’ body and blood for our world.” The time is now!
