We see Jesus’ humanity up close this week in the gospel from Matthew where he encounters “the faith” of a Canaanite woman.   This should give us hope living our own lives as humans as we constantly attempt to be, like Jesus, “our best selves” which really, like him, is to be divine.

We are challenged once again to be all that we can be–to, “get out of our boats” of comfort, to do what must be done, say what must be said!  Following Jesus is never less than this.  But we are comforted by his words, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you!”

In these times my friends, that call for so much from us, let us be encouraged and strengthened by our brother Jesus’ words.

As we prepare for Sunday’s reflections, the Scriptures are suggestive of how we should be in our world.  The prophet Isaiah instructs us to listen well, that we may have life and to not spend [our efforts] on things that do not bring life.  The psalmist reminds us that our God is merciful and Paul insists that, “nothing can separate us from the love of  [this gracious] God” because of Jesus.  And finally, just as Jesus multiplied his goodness among many; we too must share Jesus’ love among us.

With July 22 this past week, the Church remembered a prophet and priest and faithful follower of our brother, Jesus, the Christ, Mary of Magdala.  This Sunday we will celebrate her in a special Zoom liturgy.  This is usually our traditional, Mass on the Farm and picnic which, due to COVID 19, we need to forego this year to keep us all safe.

We hope many of you can join us and maybe even some far away friends who can’t usually be with us!

Peace and love to all this week as we remember Mary of Magdala and all women and work toward making our Church more open and inclusive.  –Pastor Kathy

NO PHYSICAL MASS again this week, but we are looking forward to our 1st Zoom Liturgy on July 26, 2020 at 10 A.M. CDT. We are still working out a few “bugs” in our system, but our hope is to be up and running–soon!

We continue on in this time of pandemic–as a friend said to me recently, “hanging in there!” We have a God who loves us mightily–basically, “has our backs” as shown in this weeks’s readings, and trusts us, to do our best in our world.  May we all find strength and purpose in the knowledge of such love!
