Dear Friends,

The Church calendar names the Assumption of our mother and sister, Mary into heaven as this Sunday’s liturgy. Because this is a “somewhat” made-up doctrine, not followed nor observed by all Christian churches and often tied to her, “supposed” Immaculate Conception, as a result, go a long way in taking her, humanity from her–because if she was, “without sin” then she was hardly human, and if so, what can we say of our brother, Jesus?

Come; let us take a new look at Mary, our mother, sister and friend as we share readings from this feast and the 20th in Ordinary Time.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mass on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 10 A.M at our usual place.

COVID GUIDELINES UPDATES–It seems advantageous that we again “mask up” indoors even if vaccinated, so going forward, for the time being, please wear a mask to Mass. With this in mind, we will also not be singing hymns or having refreshments as an extra precaution. Thanks for understanding. With you all masking up, I can take mine off while doing liturgy.

Dear Friends,

Again, our theme is looking at being, “bread for the world.” The readings this week tell us that being, “that bread” can be done physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

Come; let us “unpack this” together this week.

Peace and love,

Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mass on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 10 A.M. in our usual place!

SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, September 12, 2021 for a special Liturgy of Remembrance–more on this later.

We will continue our current recommendations concerning COVID — everyone must be vaccinated who can be, to attend. Mask-wearing at your comfort level–the CDC is recommending indoor mask wearing in areas that have high levels of the Delta variant-which is not us, at present.

Dear Friends,

The challenge continues this week to be, “bread for our world,” plain and simple. We are called to more than the “status quo” where our actions in the world are concerned.

Come; be with us — pray with us to be all we can be for our world.

Peace and love, Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – Mass on the Farm -in honor of Mary of Magdala and all women!

Dear Friends,

This is the last call for our mass on the farm–and pot-luck picnic afterward–an annual event and first one in two years! We are very happy to host those of you who can make it. We have about 20 coming so far and there is room for more! Everyone who is fully vaccinated is most welcome to be with us. We are told that children who can’t yet be vaccinated are protected within the immunity that the adults provide. All of the day’s celebration will be outside, except for getting your lunch and bathroom use. No masks are needed unless you choose that option for extra protection.

We will be opting out of the readings for the 17th Sunday of Ordinary Time and focusing our attention solely on Mary of Magdala and all women and their rightful place in our Church. After Sunday’s celebration, I will put out the readings, prayers and homily.

In the meantime, please always call 507-429-3616 or email, aaorcc2008@gmail.com if I can help in any way.

Peace and love, Pastor Kathy

Bulletin – 16th Weekend in Ordinary Time

  • Mass on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. in our regular space. In-person Masses are for those who are fully vaccinated. Children unable to yet be vaccinated can attend this setting of completely vaccinated adults without masks at their parents’ discretion. The best scientific advice tells us that children generally don’t infect each other and that the only way they would get COVID is from an unvaccinated adult. Adults that are vaccinated protect the children it is thought.
  • Just so that you can plan and feel safe, the following will be in place for the time being: no hand-holding at the Our Father, reception of communion in bread form only, and no physical expression (touch) at “kiss of peace” except among families–waves, smiles–fine!
  • July 25, 2021, Sunday, is our annual Mary of Magdala Mass on the Redig Farm beginning with Mass at 10 A.M. followed by a pot-luck lunch. If you haven’t yet signed up, let me know if you can join us and what you might be able to bring to share. We weren’t able to do this last year due to COVID, so we are truly looking forward to sharing this special time with you once again.

Dear Friends,

“Sheep” and “shepherd” terminology are very much present in this week’s readings. Ideas about “trust,” “comfort,” and “love” rise to the surface, but also underscore the message as we try to be more, in close contact with our loving God.

Come; ponder all this with our community on Saturday.

Peace and love, Pastor Kathy
